About us

The idea behind DoodleLearning is simple: to build every child’s confidence in maths and English. 

Back in 2011, we realised the potential in using technology to teach. After watching their children playing on their tablets, Tom and Nicola, two maths teachers, decided to create an app that would combine different learning styles, work alongside class-taught lessons and encourage children to learn in a fun and personal way.

Looking back, we’ve come a long way from this initial eureka moment. We’ve released four Doodle programmes covering maths and English content for ages 4-to-14 that have been used by over one million children. We’re also used in hundreds of schools, not just in the UK, but internationally too — and this number continues to grow.

We’re proud of what we’ve built, not least because of the studies and feedback demonstrating that Doodle really works to improve confidence and ability in maths and English, which is no easy task!

We also strive to build a system that supports, rather than replaces, teaching. Our vision is of children learning through inspiring whole-class teaching, and of teachers having the tools and technology to ensure that every child is filling their personal learning gaps.

2. Children learn best through doing, experimenting and trying things for themselves.

3. Children often forget what they’ve learned, unless they’re regularly reminded.

4. Children don’t always make the right choices when it comes to their learning.

Helping children around the world

We're proud to be used in schools all around the world, including the USA, Australia, Mexico and Dubai.


As just one example, in 2018 we supplied 1,200 Kindle Fires with DoodleMaths pre-installed to schools in Nigeria.

Reducing our environmental impact

Our environmental impact is always at the forefront of our mind. To save on paper, our Doodle programmes, resources and handbooks are all based online.


When it comes to our merchandise, we don’t sell plastic bottles or other non-biodegradables. In fact, our stylish Doodle pencils are made from 100% recycled CDs!

Working with our local community

We’re passionate about working with our community to encourage positive change and promote the tech industry. 

We’ve worked with the Bath Digital Festival to inspire children about the world of tech, and in 2019, we were recognised for our efforts when we won the Sparkies Award!
